All of us are Leaders

Most of us imagine being in a leader's shoes. At the same time we are convinced that this could just remain a wishful thinking because we are persuaded that leaders are born. For us, people who influence our lives in our societies and workplaces are the ones who are born in to certain families, have certain pedigree and possess certain traits. But a path breaking research, which became the foundation for LeadCap reveals that leaders are not really born, but are the ones who are willing to take a decision to lead when it is expected from them.

Leadership is not reserved for a select few, born in certain environments or brought up in particular settings. Great leaders, many of whom who changed fortunes of nations, did not possess anything that made them born leaders - no birthrights, no pedigree and no extraordinary attributes.

@ Leaders often do not carry any legacy nor are they from great families. People who have initiated and propagated great changes are seldom there because of a birthright. They emerge and remain as great leaders because of their own merit, starting with a determination to lead a cause that they strongly believe in.

@ Leaders are not distinguishable from ordinary people in terms of their intelligence and other abilities. They seldom have a past where they have exhibited some extraordinary physical or mental capabilities setting them apart from the ordinary majority. History suggests that many leaders had been branded below average or just about average at some point in their lives. They emerged as leaders because they chose to lead.

@ Rarely people emerge as leaders on the merits of a great institution of learning or training that they have attended. Educational background is not what makes a leader. When universities or institutions claim that they create leaders, it just means that they help people to be successful. And being successful is very different from being a leader. Leadership is a matter of choice and determination, rather than any ready-made degree or diploma.

Leaders are not born or made, but are the ones bold enough to take a decision to lead. YOU can be a leader if you are willing to lead.

How can you start leading?

@ To lead, let go of your conventional thoughts about leadership: Often we confuse people adorning a particular position, be it Head of a State or the Director of a Corporation, as leaders. But the reality is, a leaders is anyone who can drive a change. Someone who can stand up and drive a cause that is worthy enough. And as we make this clear distinction, we see that leaders are born more out of their own self-conscious decisions than by any legacy or pedigree.

@ To lead, take a decision when faced with a defining moment: If you choose and decide to lead, you become a leader. Hence, leadership is a matter of choice and determination than just a matter of birth or training. Good leadership is basically a decision which you take when you are faced with your defining moment.

DECIDE TO LEAD.
