Volunteer for a Project Our volunteers volunteer to lead - to lead themselves out of their own fears and insecurities and to lead others around towards their unlimited leadership potential. That way they are actually not volunteers, but leads for a project. All our projects help individuals discover some aspect of leadership in their life - be it helping them find their voice as leaders, or helping them discover their writing potential. "Leaders are those individuals who have found their voice, in a cause that they believe in" Stand up, Speak Out is a forum based out of schools and colleges to help more youngsters find their voice about issues they care. Through debates, rhetoric, group discussions and counseling sessions, the forum promotes the participants' confidence to stand up for causes. Critical thinking, challenging assumptions and tolerance of differing ideas and thoughts are some of the values promoted by Stand Up, Speak Out forum, while build leaders of tomorrow. Volunteers would be required to play a multi faceted role, just like true leaders. They would be required to campaign with schools/colleges to introduce Stand Up, Speak Out, moderate discussions, and mentor young leaders. 2) Story Boards: LeadCap Story Boards are wall newspapers put up in schools, colleges, organisations and community halls to spread the message of leadership. These story boards, which share interesting and inspiring leadership stories, along with the latest news from LeadCap, motivate more youngsters to shed their fears and step in to leadership roles. Volunteer responsibilities: - Find out a visible place. Locate a place that is high on visibility in your community - these are preferably where people assemble regularly, at the same time not too cluttered with other notices (eg. Coffee parlours/canteens in organisations) - Get permission from the authorities to put up a Story Board. Story Boards are typically as big as a horizontally held newspaper, pin-up boards. These boards would have the LeadCap logo on top. - Maintain your Story Board by downloading and pasting stories from LeadCap website as well as your own stories on a regular basis. 3) Write for Right: "Leaders are writers. Writing amplifies the leader's voice" Write for Right is a forum to help individuals discover their writing potential to magnify their impact on the causes that they stand for. The forum, based on a belief that everyone has a potential to write, is promoted through workshops and interactive sessions, helps potential leaders to gain more clarity on their ideas and reach out to a larger group of people. The forum takes this talent on to the next level by providing these young budding writers with a platform - through the LeadCap blog and various media. Currently, LeadCap columns are running in newspapers and magazines like Businessworld, Times of India, Vijay Karnataka, Dainik Bhaskar, Lakshya, Divya Bhaskar etc. Volunteers would be required to organize and coordinate the workshops, along with providing the young leaders a constant dose of motivation that they would overcome their writer's block to come out with their creative pieces. 4) Dare to Dream: "Today's leaders expanding tomorrow's leaders" Dare to Dream is a series of panel discussions, expert talks and motivational sessions to empower and equip more leaders. These sessions challenge them to enlarge their boundaries and think big. Dare to Dream would also link members to established and respected leaders from various sectors through an active mentoring network. Volunteers would be required to identify and recruit mentors, allocate and coordinate with the mentees and organize the discussions. 5) Leadership Marches: "Leading from the front" Leadership marches are undertaken across cities to awaken citizens, to come out of their comfort zones, to take responsibility and to contribute to the development of the nation, than make excuses and blame others. These serve as a platform for resident associations, citizen initiatives and NGOs to come together and tackle their problems. The marches are made exciting through street plays and music. At the end of every march citizens get together and take a pledge. Volunteers are required to organize and lead end to end of every march. They coordinate with the schools, resident associations, NGOs and citizens to gather momentum, obtain necessary permissions and lead the march from the front. 6) Lead on India ON: "Equipping leaders of tomorrow" Lead on India ON are workshops to empower and equip more people with leadership skills, covering areas like visionising, team building, communication, motivation, driving change, negotiation, breaking thought and action barriers etc. These multidisciplinary workshops draw from management, sociology, psychology, NLP etc. Volunteers are not only expected to coordinate the workshops, but are also required to constantly push more people to come out of their comfort zones to drive positive changes in the society. |
